The EUIPO introduces a Geographical Indications service to its Operations Department

The EUIPO is proud to announce the introduction of a new service within its Operations Department that will deal with Geographical Indications (GIs) and other IP rights. The Executive Director of the EUIPO, Joao Negrao, took this strategic decision following the entry into force of the Regulation 2023/2411 on the protection of geographical indications for craft and industrial products. With this regulation, the EUIPO became the EU competent body in charge of the newly established scheme.
