Since November 1, 2021, Ordinance No. 46 of October 14, 2021 has been in effect, which concerns the institution, purpose and use of Brazilian seals of Geographical Indications, with a seal being provided for each type of Geographical Indication in Brazil : Indication of Origin (IP) and Denomination of Origin (DO).
As provided for in Ordinance No. 46, the purpose of this measure is to create an identity for products and services that have a Geographical Indication, encouraging the use of these labels on products and services that have this right and increasing their recognition in the consumer market.
In addition, the use of these seals is free, optional and restricted to producers and service providers and must be used together with the distinctive sign of the respective Denomination of Origin or Indication of Origin. Read more
